9/29/2025 Restrictions Decrease for Public and Industry.

2025 Douglas Forest Patrol fire season alert: Public Use Restriction Level LOW, IFPL: Level 1, effective Sept 29, 2025.

Effective 2:01 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025, the Douglas Forest Protective Association (DFPA) has reduced Public Use Restriction Levels (PURs) to LOW across all private, county, state, and Bureau of Indian Affairs lands within the Douglas District.

At the same time, the Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL) has decreased to Level 1 within the Douglas Forest Protection District, covering regulated use areas DG-1, DG-2, UA-1, UA-2, and all forestland within one-eighth mile, including lands managed by the Roseburg District BLM.

What This Means for the Public

  • Non-industrial equipment use (chainsaws, mowing, grinding, welding, etc.) is allowed all day.
  • Off-road driving is permitted with landowner permission, but vehicles must stay on improved roads free of flammable vegetation (with exceptions for agricultural operations).
  • All passenger vehicles traveling on forestlands must carry:
    • An axe
    • A shovel
    • One gallon of water or a 2½ lb. (or larger) ABC fire extinguisher
  • ATVs must carry a 2½ lb. (or larger) ABC fire extinguisher.

What This Means for Industry (IFPL 1)

  • The use of fire or power-driven machinery in any operation area is allowed, but must comply with all fire prevention requirements under ORS Chapter 477 and OAR Chapter 629, Divisions 41–43.

Burning and Fire Season

  • Debris burning, including burn barrels, remains prohibited. Fire season is still in effect.
  • If you are planning a burn, you must first contact DFPA for the proper permits.
  • If you schedule a permitted burn and notify Lookingglass Rural Fire District, we will do our best to have a crew on-site to support your operation.
