Fire Chief/EMR
Steven Rhodes
Chief Rhodes started volunteering at Lookingglass Rural Fire District in 2008, after retiring from Orange County California as a Captain with 35 years of dedicated service. Chief Rhodes is also the Lookingglass Grange Treasurer.
Deputy Chief
Bob Scott
Deputy Chief Scott brings extensive experience and a deep commitment to the Lookingglass Rural Fire District. He initially joined the district in 2016 after a distinguished career with the Roseburg City Fire Department, where he served as the Division Chief of Training and Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
During his initial tenure with Lookingglass, Deputy Chief Scott played a pivotal role as the Training Officer and Assistant Chief, contributing to the district's development and preparedness. After briefly retiring in 2024 for medical reasons, he has returned to Lookingglass, resuming his role as Deputy Fire Chief and Training Officer.
Deputy Chief Scott's expertise in firefighter training and EMS, combined with his decades of leadership experience, makes him an invaluable asset to the department. His return reflects his dedication to serving the community and fostering excellence within the district.
The Lookingglass Rural Fire District is honored to welcome Deputy Chief Scott back and looks forward to the continued benefit of his knowledge, leadership, and commitment to public safety.

Rich Chitwood
Captain Chitwood started volunteering at Lookingglass Rural Fire District in 2013. Captain Chitwood also is the Training Officer at Glide Rural Fire Protection District.

Patricia Nelson
Firefighter Trainee Nelson, P started volunteering at Lookingglass Rural Fire Protection District in 2015 and after seeing that LRFD had the need for an office administrator to help with the administrative tasks became the administrative assistant. Again after seeing that LRFD had the need for a safety officer Firefighter Trainee Nelson obtained Safety Officer training at DPSST in Salem and now covers the Safety Officer Role at LRFD.

Victor (George) Herrold
Engineer Herrold came to Lookingglass Rural Fire District 10/2/2024 after 34 years at Douglas County Fire District #2. Engineer Herrold is a tremendous assest to the Lookingglass Rural Fire DIstrict. Engineer Herrold has volunteered and already hit the ground running, familurizing himself with Lookingglass equipment an procedures.

Engineer Johnson started volunteering at Lookingglass Rural Fire District in 2006 and a brief leave of absence in 2018 has returned to Volunteer again in 2022. Engineer Johnson is also a Veteran and continues to serve his community.

Firefighter Trainee Cummins started volunteering with Lookingglass Rural Fire District in 2024. Firefighter Trainee Cummins started with Douglas Forest Protection Agency were he obtained his Wildland Firefighter certifications.

Trainee Oates came to Lookingglass Rural Fire District 9/11/2024. Trainee Oates is a member of the Lookingglass Grange and you may recognize her from the Lookingglass Store. Trainee Oates has experience as a medical responder during employment elsewhere. We look forward to see her progress.

Chauffeur Trainee Tatom started at Lookingglass Rural Fire District in 2023. Chauffeur Trainee Tato came to LRFD from Douglas Forest Protection Association.Chauffeur Trainee Tatom obtained his EMR shortly after joining LRFD and has been working towards his Engineer Certificate.

Chauffeur Trainee Beck started at Lookingglass Rural Fire District in 2023. Chauffeur Trainee Beck is working towards his Engineer Certification and is a US Navy Veteran.

EMR Simmons started volunteering at Lookingglass Rural Fire District in 2023 and has obtained her EMR liscene and is working on obtaining her Large Animal Rescue Certification.

Sherman, Rick
Chaplin Sherman started at Lookingglass Rural Fire District in 2023. Chaplin Sherman noticed a need at LRFD for a chaplin and graciously filled that need. One of the important roles as the Chaplin at a Fire Station is to monitor the mental and spiritual health of the Emergency Service Personnel. Chaplin Sherman also serve the Lookingglass community as the Pastor
