His leadership extended into various roles, including President of the Timberland Corvette Club from March 18, 2015, to the present day. Robert's dedication to education and training was evident as the Fire Science Coordinator at Umpqua Community College from Fall of 1986 to Fall of 1988 and as a Fire Science Advisory Committee Member and past Chairman from September 1984 to June 2002.

Robert's commitment to volunteerism was unparalleled, volunteering at the Civil Air Patrol from April 1985 to December 1996 as Squadron Safety Officer and Captain. He also served as Battalion Chief, Administrator, and Training Officer at Drain Rural Fire District from November 1977 to December 1984.
