Burnt Mountain Fire Update – August 8, 2025

The Lookingglass Rural Fire District is actively monitoring the new start on Burnt Mountain. As of 1700 hours, there has been no request from the Douglas Forest Protective Association (DFPA) for additional resources. At this time, there are no evacuations in place and no structures are threatened.

LRFD extends its best wishes to the fire service personnel currently engaged in suppression efforts. Community members are encouraged to stay informed of the situation through official sources, such as Watch Duty, and to provide all on-scene resources the space necessary to perform their duties safely.

Important Safety Reminder: Flying a drone over an active fire will result in all air assets being grounded. This significantly delays suppression operations and increases risk to both firefighters and the public. Drones must remain clear of the fire area.

Residents are urged to review the Ready, Set, Go evacuation readiness levels:

  • Level 1 – Ready: Be aware of fire danger in your area. Prepare your emergency kit, know your evacuation routes, and plan for pets and livestock.
  • Level 2 – Set: Be ready to leave at a moment’s notice. Ensure your family, animals, and essential items are prepared to go.
  • Level 3 – Go: Leave immediately. There is an imminent threat to life and safety.

Preparedness is key to safety. Please take time to review your evacuation plan and remain alert for updates.
