Camp Ignition Point: Preparing the Next Generation of Fire & Emergency Responders




Lookingglass Rural Fire District is proud to partner with Central Douglas Fire & Rescue, Roseburg Fire Department, Sutherlin Fire Department, and Umpqua Community College in support of Camp Ignition Point, a hands-on fire and emergency services camp designed to introduce young adults to careers and opportunities within the emergency services profession.
Camp Ignition Point is intended for individuals ages 15-21 who are interested in firefighting, emergency medical services, rescue operations, public safety, leadership development, or community service. Whether participants are considering a future career in emergency services or simply want to gain firsthand experience and challenge themselves in a team-oriented environment, this camp provides a unique opportunity to learn directly from local firefighters and emergency responders.
Throughout the camp, participants will engage in hands-on training and practical skill development involving:
- Firefighting operations
- EMS and patient care fundamentals
- Rescue techniques
- Hose handling and water application
- Teamwork and leadership development
- Emergency scene operations
- Physical and mental challenges commonly encountered in emergency services
- CPR Certification
- Stop the Bleed Certification
Participants will work alongside firefighters, EMTs, and emergency personnel from multiple agencies throughout Douglas County while gaining exposure to the discipline, responsibility, teamwork, and professionalism required within the fire service and emergency response community.
Camp attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about:
- Fire and EMS career pathways
- Volunteer opportunities
- Fire science and college programs
- Firefighter and EMS certifications
- Local and regional emergency service agencies

June 29-30 | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Young Men’s Fire Camp
July 1-2 | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Lunch, snacks, and water will be provided each day. Participants will also have the opportunity to apply for a $1,000 scholarship donated by Ray Aesthetics.
