Fire season in Douglas District, 2025: Level Extreme, IFPL Level 3. Public use restriction effective Aug 10, 2025.

Effective Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 12:01 AM, the Douglas Forest Protective Association (DFPA) will raise the Fire Danger Level and the Public Use Restriction Level to EXTREME. This change affects all private, county, state, and Bureau of Indian Affairs lands within the Douglas District, which includes the Lookingglass area.

What This Means for the Public:

The following activities are now prohibited under the EXTREME restriction level:

  • Operation of non-industrial power saws
  • Cutting, grinding, or welding of metal
  • Trimming, cutting, or mowing of dried or cured grass
  • Use of power-driven machinery for non-industrial property development or improvement

These restrictions are in place to prevent wildfire ignitions and will remain effective until modified or lifted by the Oregon State Forester or an authorized representative.

Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL):

The IFPL will remain at Level 3 within regulated use areas DG-1, DG-2, UA-1, UA-2, and forestlands within one-eighth mile of these zones.

Additional Resources and Information:

  • Maps of affected areas are available at the Oregon State Forester’s Office in Salem and local Forest Protection District offices.
