Fire Danger Level Increased to EXTREME

2025 Fire Season alert for Douglas District: Extreme level, IFPL 3. Restrictions effective Aug 23, 12:01 AM.

Lookingglass Rural Fire District is sharing the following DFPA News Release regarding fire danger in Douglas County.

Effective Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 12:01 a.m., the Fire Danger Level and Public Use Restriction Level will increase to EXTREME for all private, county, state, and Bureau of Indian Affairs land within the Douglas District.

Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL)

The IFPL will remain at Level 3 in regulated use areas DG-1, DG-2, UA-1, UA-2, and all forestland within one-eighth mile of these areas.

What This Means for the Public

The following activities are prohibited under Extreme Fire Danger:

  • Non-industrial power saw usage
  • Cutting, grinding, or welding of metal
  • Cutting, trimming, or mowing of dried, cured grass
  • Power-driven machinery for non-industrial improvement or development on private property

Exceptions may only be granted in writing by the State Forester or an authorized representative.

These restrictions will remain in place until replaced or terminated by an additional order.
