As we celebrate Independence Day, the Lookingglass Rural Fire District wishes everyone a safe and happy Fourth of July!

The Fourth of July is a time to enjoy family, friends, and celebrate our nation’s independence. While you’re celebrating, we ask everyone to keep fire and personal safety in mind.

Fireworks Safety Tips

  • Always follow Oregon’s fireworks laws and only use legal consumer fireworks.
  • Never allow young children to handle or ignite fireworks.
  • Keep a bucket of water and a garden hose nearby whenever fireworks are being used.
  • Light only one firework at a time and move away quickly.
  • Never attempt to relight fireworks that fail to ignite.
  • Soak all used fireworks in water before placing them in the trash.
  • Keep fireworks away from dry grass, brush, vehicles, structures, and other combustible materials.
  • Never use fireworks while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

With fire season underway, vegetation is dry and conditions can change rapidly. A single spark can quickly become a wildfire. Please celebrate responsibly and help protect our community.

Fourth of July Staffing

To help ensure a rapid response to emergencies, Lookingglass Rural Fire District will be upstaffing throughout the Fourth of July holiday. Thanks to the Oregon State Fire Marshal Staffing Grant, firefighters will be on duty and ready to respond quickly to fires, medical emergencies, and other incidents throughout the day.
