Honoring Our Veterans and Their Families

Each year on November 11th, we pause to observe Veterans Day — a time to honor and thank all who have served in the United States Armed Forces, past and present. This day stands as a solemn reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of those who have defended our nation and the freedoms we hold dear.
The Meaning of Veterans Day
Veterans Day is more than a day of remembrance — it is a call to gratitude and reflection. It reminds us that our freedoms have been preserved through the bravery and selflessness of ordinary men and women who answered an extraordinary call to serve. Their devotion and courage continue to inspire future generations to uphold the values of service, honor, and community.
Veterans Within Our Community
At Lookingglass Rural Fire District, we proudly recognize and thank the veterans within our department and throughout our community. Many of our volunteers continue their service beyond the military — protecting lives, property, and the safety of our neighbors right here at home. Their continued commitment to duty, integrity, and public service reflects the very spirit that defines both the fire service and military service.
Honoring the Families Who Serve
We also extend our deepest gratitude to the families of veterans and active service members. Their sacrifices often go unseen but are deeply felt — missing holidays, special occasions, and important moments while their loved ones serve our nation, whether deployed overseas, stationed away from home, or fulfilling their regular duty days.
Their strength, patience, and support make that service possible and deserve equal recognition and appreciation.
A Message from Lookingglass Rural Fire District
To every veteran and every military family — thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your example. Today, and every day, we honor you.
