Live Fire Training Notice – April 25, 2026
Lookingglass Rural Fire District (LRFD) will be conducting a planned live fire training exercise on Saturday, April 25, 2026, beginning at 0900 hours at 5984 Flournoy Valley Road.
This training will occur at a donated structure scheduled for demolition and will be carried out in compliance with NFPA 1403: Standard on Live Fire Training Evolutions. The objective is to provide firefighters with controlled, scenario-based training in fire behavior, suppression tactics, and operational safety under the supervision of certified live fire instructors.
Participating agencies currently include Lookingglass Rural Fire District and Tenmile Rural Fire District.
This event has been reported to and approved by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to ensure compliance with applicable environmental and air quality requirements.
What to Expect
Residents in the area may notice:
- Fire apparatus and emergency personnel on scene
- Visible smoke throughout the day
- Increased activity at the training location
This is a planned training event and not an emergency.
Public Safety Information
The training will take place on private property with limited access. For safety and operational control, the public is asked to not approach or gather near the training site. This helps ensure a safe environment for both responders and the community while maintaining compliance with training standards.
Community Education
As part of LRFD’s commitment to public education, portions of the training—particularly fire behavior demonstrations—will be recorded and shared at a later date to help the public better understand fire dynamics and fire safety practices.
LRFD appreciates the continued support of the community as we train to enhance response capabilities and firefighter safety.
