Looking Ahead to 2026 — A Message from Lookingglass Rural Fire District

Celebrating New Year 2026! Join the Lookingglass Rural Fire District as a volunteer. New Year resolutions: give back, learn, make a difference!

As we close out 2025, the Lookingglass Rural Fire District would like to take a moment to reflect on a year filled with growth, challenges, and continued progress. A great deal has happened over the past year, and we remain grateful for the trust and support shown by the Lookingglass community and our surrounding neighbors. We look forward to seeing what 2026 has to offer as we continue to serve our district with dedication, professionalism, and pride.

With New Year celebrations taking place, we want to share an important safety reminder for our community.

Alcohol-impaired driving remains one of the leading causes of preventable fatalities nationwide. Approximately one-third of all traffic deaths involve alcohol, and New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day consistently rank among the highest-risk times of the year. Even one alcoholic drink can impair judgment, reaction time, and decision-making. If you plan on traveling and drinking—even a single drink—please have a plan in place. Designate a sober driver, arrange a ride, stay where you are, or plan ahead. A responsible decision can save lives.

The New Year often brings New Year’s resolutions. If you are looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community, develop new skills, and make a direct impact, consider volunteering with your local fire department. Volunteer fire service extends far beyond firefighting and relies on individuals with a wide range of skills and interests.

From all of us at the Lookingglass Rural Fire District, we wish you a safe, healthy, and successful New Year. Please celebrate responsibly, look out for one another, and thank you for supporting volunteer emergency services.

Here’s to a safe and productive 2026.
