Lookingglass Rural Fire District Invites Families to Visit the Station This Summer

Looking for a fun and educational activity with your children during summer break? Lookingglass Rural Fire District invites community members to stop by the station and meet your local firefighters.

Thanks to funding provided through the Oregon State Fire Marshal (OSFM) Staffing Grant, LRFD is able to staff the station daily from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. throughout the fire season. This additional staffing allows firefighters to be more available to engage with the community while remaining ready to respond to emergencies.

During your visit, children and families will have the opportunity to:

  • Tour the fire station
  • Explore LRFD fire apparatus and equipment
  • Try on firefighter turnout gear
  • Spray water from a fire hose
  • Meet the firefighters who proudly serve the Lookingglass community
  • Learn about fire safety and the important role of the volunteer fire service

Please keep in mind that LRFD is an active emergency response agency. Emergency incidents will always take priority, and firefighters may need to leave the station immediately when dispatched. There may also be times when crews are away from the station on emergency calls or other district-related duties. If that happens during your visit, we appreciate your understanding and encourage you to stop back later.

For many children, seeing firefighters respond to an emergency call is an exciting and memorable experience that provides a firsthand look at the dedication of the volunteers who serve their community.
