LRFD Expresses Gratitude to Central Douglas Fire & Rescue for Uniform Donation

Lookingglass Rural Fire District (LRFD) is honored to acknowledge the generous donation from Central Douglas Fire & Rescue of Class B blouses and dual‑compliant station pants.

This contribution significantly enhances our district’s operational readiness. The donated station pants provide an added layer of protection and are approved for wildland firefighting when worn as protective garments. With this donation, you will begin seeing LRFD volunteers in standardized uniforms. Our initial focus for issuance is volunteers currently working shifts through the OSFM Staffing Grant, before expanding to include additional members.

We have already commenced uniform fittings for on‑shift volunteers. The next steps in deployment include:

  • Hiring an embroidery shop to produce and attach name tapes
  • Working with an alterations shop to sew on new patches and name tapes, and hem trousers as needed

Uniform Cost Estimates

To highlight the value of this donation, the current retail prices for comparison are:

  • A  station‑wear Class B duty shirt or blouse in flame-resistant fabrics (Nomex® or equivalent) typically costs between $160 and $170 per unit
  • Dual‑compliant wildland/station pants, such as the FP62 model, generally retail for around $300 per pair

This donation effectively provides LRFD with uniforms valued at several hundred dollars per volunteer, greatly reducing out-of-pocket expenses for the district and reinforcing safety and uniformity.

Strengthening Safety, Professionalism & Community Partnership

Central Douglas Fire & Rescue’s generous contribution enhances both the safety and professional image of LRFD volunteers. We extend our heartfelt thanks for their support in strengthening our operational capability and reinforcing our mutual aid partnership.

As always, LRFD remains committed to excellence in service, and this uniform project is one more step toward ensuring our team is work-ready, coordinated, and mission-focused.
