LRFD Partners with RecruitHippo for Paid Youth Work Experience Program

The Lookingglass Rural Fire District (LRFD) is proud to announce a  partnership with RecruitHippo, creating a paid work experience opportunity for young adults ages 16–24.

This program is designed to support workforce development while introducing participants to the fire service and emergency response environment in a structured, mentored setting.

Program Highlights

Participants in the RecruitHippo program with LRFD will:

  • Earn $15 per hour
  • Work up to 160 paid hours
  • Work alongside LRFD firefighters, cadets, and other program participants
  • Gain hands-on, real-world experience in a public safety organization
  • Follow a flexible schedule that can be adjusted around school, employment, and personal commitments
  • Develop professional, teamwork, and leadership skills while serving the community

This partnership reflects LRFD’s continued commitment to youth engagement, volunteer recruitment, and building a strong pipeline for future firefighters, EMS providers, and support personnel. Whether participants are exploring a long-term career in fire and EMS or seeking meaningful work experience, this program offers a valuable opportunity to learn, contribute, and grow.
