LRFD Volunteers Achieve EMT Certification – Strengthening Community EMS Resources

Lookingglass Rural Fire District (LRFD) is proud to share the exciting news that our investment in training is paying off, as more of our volunteers become nationally certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).
Earlier this year, LRFD funded EMT Basic courses for three of our dedicated volunteers. We are pleased to announce that two of those volunteers have successfully passed their National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exams, officially earning their EMT Basic certifications. The third volunteer is now scheduled to take their NREMT exam soon, and we are optimistic that they will soon join their fellow responders as another certified EMT serving our community.
This training opportunity was made possible thanks to funding from the SAFER Grant, which allowed LRFD to fully cover the cost of the EMT Basic course for these volunteers. We are also excited to share that funds are still available through the SAFER Grant to support additional volunteers who are interested in pursuing EMT certification in the future.
We would like to take a moment to congratulate Beau Cummins, Misty Fox, and John Cota for their hard work and dedication in becoming nationally certified EMT Basics. Your commitment to training and serving the community is truly appreciated. Additionally, we are wishing Michael Nadey the best of luck as he prepares to take his NREMT exam—we look forward to celebrating his success soon!
In addition to these accomplishments, LRFD recently welcomed a new volunteer who also successfully passed the NREMT exam. This individual participated in the same EMT Basic class as our funded volunteers and is already bringing valuable skills to our team.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Tenmile Rural Fire District for allowing one of their students to also volunteer with LRFD. Collaborations like this not only help strengthen emergency response capabilities but also continue to forge a strong mutual aid bond between our districts—ensuring better service and protection for both of our communities.
LRFD remains committed to providing the highest level of care possible, and supporting EMS training is just one of the many ways we continue to build a stronger, safer community.
