Planned Power Outage – Community Notice

Scheduled power outage on Jan 9, 2026, midnight for about 4 hours, affecting 5,600 members in Tenmile, Camas, Melrose, Umpqua.

The Lookingglass Rural Fire District is sharing the following information to help keep our community informed of a planned utility outage that may impact portions of our response area.

Douglas Electric Cooperative has scheduled a planned power outage for early Friday morning, January 9, 2026, in order to complete important system upgrades designed to improve service reliability.

Outage Details

  • Start Time: 12:00 a.m. (midnight)
  • Estimated Duration: Approximately 4 hours
  • Areas Affected: Members served by the Tenmile, Camas, Melrose, and Umpqua substations
  • Estimated Members Impacted: Approximately 5,600

Douglas Electric recommends that members enroll in SmartHub and opt in to outage notifications. Members with a valid phone number on file will receive an automated call with additional details regarding the outage.

Safety Reminder

During power outages, LRFD encourages residents to:

  • Use flashlights instead of candles
  • Ensure generators are operated outdoors and away from structures
  • Check on neighbors who may rely on medical or electrical equipment
  • Call 911 for any life-safety emergencies
