Lookingglass Rural Fire District is seeking community support as we pursue a $5,000 grant through the Franz Bakery “Franz Gives” program. This funding opportunity is intended to support organizations that directly impact their communities, and public nominations are a key part of the selection process.

If awarded, LRFD will utilize the full $5,000 toward the purchase of 9 Motorola Minitor VI Pager units. Based on a current quote, the total cost for 9 pagers—including shipping—is $5,453.48. LRFD will cover the remaining $453.48 to ensure all equipment is purchased and placed into service.

At present, LRFD operates with only four pagers and supplements alerting through the Active911 application. While effective in many areas, cellular service limitations within our district have resulted in missed notifications. This directly impacts response times and the number of personnel arriving on scene.

Expanding our pager inventory will provide more reliable alerting for our volunteers, improve response turnout, and enhance our ability to deliver timely emergency services. This investment supports safer, more consistent operations for the community we serve.

LRFD continues to actively pursue grant funding to support essential needs such as equipment, training, and apparatus maintenance. These efforts are critical in maintaining operational readiness while minimizing financial impact to our taxpayers.
